December 2011
12/29  Alert 2 for an aircraft with a right thrust converter malfunction. The aircraft landed without incident using only it's left side reverse thruster.

  Alert 1 for an aircraft returning to ROC with a pressurization issue. The aircraft landed without incident.

  Alert 2 for an aircraft with a possible unsafe nose gear. The aircraft landed without incident.

  Ground Incident for a Heavy Airbus with a braking issue.

  Alert 2 for an aircraft reporting smoke in the cockpit. After the aircraft landed without incident the pilot stated they had an electrical odor on board with no visible smoke. The aircraft was allowed to taxi to the gate and was turned over to maintenance after being checked by Airport Firefighters.

October 2011
10/25  Ground Incident for a disabled aircraft with a nose wheel off the rim.
10/20  Alert 1 for a National Guard helicopter with a 'secondary transmission latch' indicator. The aircraft landed without incident.
10/18  Ground Incident for an aircraft on runway 25 with a flat tire.
10/13  Rescue 2 responded with Gates Fire to the area of Paul Rd and Beahan Rd for a reported MVA w/injuries. Rescue 10 (Airport Chief) was the first on location and reported a head on crash with heavy damage to both vehicles. An Airport Operations vehicle doing a perimeter check witnessed the crash and requested the FD be started immediately for a 'bad' MVA. After determining there was no entrapment, Airport units took care of the patient in one vehicle while Gates handled the second. Pictures; MCFW
10/10  Ground Incident for an aircraft with no radio contact.
10/6  Ground Emergency for an aircraft at the gate with smoke coming from an engine, and everyone evacuating the aircraft. A crewmember called 911 after seeing the smoke which was believed to have been caused by a hydraulic leak in the engine. There was no engine fire and the aircraft was turned over to maintenance.

September 2011
9/28  Ground Incident for an aircraft with an unknown problem.
9/13  HAZMAT 8, Rescue 3 and Rescue 9 all responded to Mumford for a large scale incident. Mumford Fire originally responded to an explosion and fire at a propane transfer facility on Main St. Firefighters arrived and found a building fully involved and threatening several 100 lb. tanks of propane. A second alarm was called and steps were taken to protect and cool the three largest tanks on the property (the largest being around 30,000 gals.)
     A Level 1 HAZMAT was declared at 3:32pm which brought HAZMAT 8 and the Monroe County HAZMAT Team to the scene. At 3:39 the incident was upgraded to a Level 2. Extensive mutual aid was requested to the scene to assist with water supply operations and shortly after 6:00pm, Rescue 3 was requested to the scene to assist with fire suppression. Rescue 9 also responded with an extra tote of AFFF in case Rescue 3 had to be resupplied.
     Airport units secured sometime after 9:00pm and left Rescue 8 at the scene overnight with the HAZMAT team.

8/30  Ground Incident for an aircraft that was disabled on the runway after losing steering during taxi.
8/28  Ground Incident for an aircraft with a smell of smoke onboard. After a thorough investigation, no fire was found.
8/28  Ground Incident for an aircraft with a tire off the pavement.
8/24  Alert 2 for an aircraft with a possible hydraulic problem. The pilot could not retract the landing gear after takeoff and reported that he may not have brakes or reverse thrusters upon landing. The aircraft landed without incident.
8/21  Alert 1 for an aircraft with a battery problem. The aircraft landed without incident.
8/20  Alert 2 for an aircraft with an indication of smoke in the baggage compartment. The aircraft landed without incident and was thoroughly checked over with no cause found.
8/8  HAZMAT 8 responded to East Rochester for a Level 1 HAZMAT.
8/3  Ground Incident for a disabled aircraft with a flat tire.
8/2  HAZMAT 8 responded to the NY State Thruway for a Level 1 HAZMAT. Henrietta firefighters declared a Level 1 for more than 100 gallons of diesel fuel spilled at the scene of a tractor trailer crash.
8/2  Ground Incident for an aircraft on the runway with no steering.

July 2011
7/23  Ground Incident for an aircraft on the runway with a stalled engine.
7/21  HAZMAT 8 responded to the scene of a working fire in Brockport for use of the cooling station on board.
7/20  Alert 1 for an aircraft returning to the airport with engine trouble. The aircraft landed without incident.
7/20  Alert 2 for an aircraft returning to the airport with a possible "shredded tire." A passenger on board the aircraft reported seeing one of the tires break apart on takeoff. The aircraft returned to ROC and landed without incident.
7/17  The Rochester Airport Firefighters Honor Guard made it's debut during the 2011 ESL Airshow, presenting the colors during the 12:00 noon National Anthem ceremony on Saturday and Sunday. The ceremonies took place during an aerial demonstration by the Canadian Skyhawks Parachute Demonstration Team. Photos
7/16  Mass Casualty Incident declared during the 2011 ESL International Airshow. Near the end of the day over 40 people were treated for heat related conditions. Air temperatures were in the mid 90's most of the afternoon and pavement temperatures on the tarmac approached 140 degrees.
7/14  Fire response for a belt loader that caught fire on the ramp. On arrival the engine and conveyor belt were burning with no exposure problems. The fire was quickly extinguished.
7/14  Airport firefighters participated in aircraft familiarization and egress training with the U.S. Navy Blue Angels Flight Demonstration Team in preparation for this weekend's airshow in Rochester.
7/13  Alert 1 for an aircraft with an unsafe gear indicator. The aircraft landed without incident.
7/11  Ground Incident for an aircraft with a hung brake.

7/9  Ground Emergency for an aircraft returning to the gate with a hot brake.

June 2011
6/30  Ground Incident for an aircraft off the runway after landing. The small aircraft blew a tire upon landing, left the side of the runway and came to rest in the grass several hundred feet off the pavement. There were no reported injuries and the aircraft was not damaged beyond the wheel.
6/28  Alert 2 for an aircraft with a flaps failure. The aircraft landed without incident.
6/26  Alert 2 for an aircraft with a flaps failure. The aircraft landed without incident.
6/20  Ground Incident for an aircraft with a blown tire.
6/20  Commercial water problem at the ROC Fairfield Inn. A boiler on the 3rd floor ruptured sending large quantities of water throughout the first three floors of the hotel.
6/17  Alert 2 for an aircraft diverting to ROC with a strong electrical odor in the cockpit. The aircraft landed without incident and was turned over to maintenance after being checked.
6/12  Alert 2 for an aircraft with a possible landing gear problem. The aircraft landed without incident.

May 2011
5/24  Alert 2 for an aircraft with a possible pressurization problem and people reportedly fainting onboard. The aircraft landed without incident and taxied to it's gate where one passenger was evaluated for lightheadedness.
5/22  Alert 1 for an aircraft that lost it's turbo charger. The aircraft landed without incident.
5/13  Alert 2 for an aircraft with a brake degradation alarm. The aircraft landed without incident.
5/11  Alert 1 for an aircraft returning to the airport with mechanical problems. The aircraft landed without incident.
5/4  Alert 1 for an aircraft with an electrical problem. The aircraft landed without incident.
5/2  Alert 2 for an aircraft reporting smoke in the cockpit. The aircraft landed without incident and was turned over to maintenance.

April 2011
