![]() B-17 Emergency Landing- April 2007 (click on thumbnails for full-size picture and description) |
On the afternoon of April 24, Airport firefighters were alerted for an inbound aircraft with a possible landing gear problem. The aircraft turned out to be the actual B-17 used in the movie 'Memphis Belle' and was flown by the same pilot as in the movie as well. Once it landed safely, all AFD equipment followed the aircraft to parking for a unique experience. Airport firefighters were allowed to walk around the inside of the aircraft and have their pictures taken. After being checked out by maintenance crews on the gound, the aircraft was deemed air worthy once again and took off shortly thereafter. |
