| On the afternoon of June 3, 2007, Airport Firefighters responded to a Motor Vehicle Accident in front of the airport terminal. Upon arrival, firefighters found an SUV had struck a fire hydrant on the side of the road and was now resting securely on top of the poles meant to protect the hydrant. As the pictures show, the fire hydrant snapped off the water main as designed upon being struck. Firefighters treated the driver of the vehicle for injuries until an ambulance arrived, and the Monroe County Sheriff's Office assumed control of the scene until the vehicle could be removed. |
